A BRIEF REPORT ON THE LAUNCH OF THE 3RD BATCH OF THE 9 MONTH DIPLOMA IN SCHOOL COUNSELLING, 2021

The 3rd batch of the 9 month Diploma in School Counselling was formally inaugurated on the 2nd September, 2021 at SIEMAT Hall, SCERT, Nagaland Kohima with Shri Shanavas, C. IAS, Principal Director, School Education, Nagaland as the Special Guest. Mrs. N. Chumchanbeni Kikon, Addl. Director & HoD, SCERT, Nagaland welcomed the participants. Dr.Zavise Rume, Professor &HoD, Guidance & Counselling, Guidance & Counselling, SCERT, Nagaland spoke on the Introduction to the course. Mr. Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland addressed the gathering. Ms. Medemmongla Jamir, Research Associate, SCERT, Nagaland gave a concluding remark of the programme.

The primary objective of the Diploma course is to provide skill-based hands on practical oriented training on counselling. The primary focus of the training will be given to training in knowledge, skills and attitude of the trainees who would in turn be identified as school counsellors to ensure that there is at least one male and female counsellor available in every school in Nagaland.

The course is divided into three major phases namely:

First phase: 3 months Face to Face regular contact Programme.

Second phase: 3 months School based Counselling Practice.

Third phase: 3 months Internship counselling practice.

There are altogether 50 trainees already registered for the course. The total capacity of the course is 60 seats.
