SCERT organizes workshop on toy based pedagogy
A two-day workshop on toy based pedagogy under the aegis of State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) Nagaland got underway here today.
The New Education Policy 2020 provides for a definitive shift in curricular and pedagogical changes in all stages of education with toy based pedagogy being one major inclusion in education system.
In the inaugural function, SCERT Director Chumchanbeni Kithan highlighted on the varied role of toys and games for learning. She said that toys are not just entertaining for children but has the potential to develop the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains in children.
The workshop will culminate in documenting of indigenous toys and games for education.
Participants of the workshop include the TOTs and primary teachers from all the districts.
Resource persons from SCERT and DIET will take sessions on the importance of toys and games for developmental needs and linking toys and games with foundational stage learning with special reference to indigenous toys and games.
