Activities of SCERT in a nutshell :

  1. Teachers Training : Teacher training is an important activity of the Department, The SCERT conducts short term in-service training programmes covering all curricular areas. In addition, the Department along with the DIETs conduct the D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) for both in-service teachers and pre-service candidates . The D.Ed. programme which was conducted by the SCERT in the previous years has now been renamed as D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) as per the National Guidelines.
  2. Workshops and Seminar: Workshop and seminars are important inputs for affecting improvement in education. The SCERT organizes State level/Inter/Intra Departmental Workshop and seminars on issues pertaining to the educational system of the State on a regular basis.
  3. Vocational Guidance and Counseling: Vocational Guidance and Counselling is an important emerging area of education for guiding the students in making the right career choices and for helping the students as well as the teachers to deal with the everyday issues and problems of education and the process of physical and mental growth. In this area, the Department conducts career talks, exhibition and teachers training including publication of career booklets and teacher manuals.
  4. Research and Survey : Research and Survey is another important activity of the Department as it is an important input for affecting improvement in the quality of Education. The SCERT conducts research and survey activities on various issues relating to the educational system of the State so that positive changes in the system are brought about.
